Story Pots
These stocky, handbuilt vessels explore narrative themes through surface illustration. Populated with imaginary creatures, glaze is applied in varying thicknesses to either accentuate or obscure details. Drawings carved into the clay give the vessels a tactile quality, accentuated by allowing glaze to run and pool, embracing the natural behaviour of the materials.
Making these pieces is a reflective practice which results in a continuous narrative open to interpretation. This is conveyed by the way the characters interact over a surface, they are humorous and make subtle comments on life.
